"An Illinois prison that may house terrorism suspects now at Guantanamo will be inspected by a federal team today, a day after Gov. Quinn and Sen. Dick Durbin stumped for the plan - calling it ‘a dream come true.'"

The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) released the following response to Durbin's statement:

"While Senator Durbin may believe that plans to transfer Gitmo detainees to his home state is a ‘dream come true,' the idea of housing some of the world's deadliest killers in local Illinois communities is more like the worst nightmare for many of Durbin's constituents.

"Unfortunately, most of the Illinois Democrat candidates vying to join Durbin in the U.S. Senate have inexplicably voiced their support for Durbin's misguided plan, while others have remained conspicuously silent about this extremely controversial issue.

"No matter who the Democrats choose as their eventual nominee, it's clear they will be forced to explain their support for this dangerous decision when Illinois voters cast their ballots next November." - Amber Wilkerson Marchand, NRSC spokeswoman
