NRSC Response To Evan Bayh’s Rhetoric About “Taming” The National Debt
Thursday, 19 November 2009 16:12
WASHINGTON - National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) spokesman Colin Reed issued the following statement today in response to U.S. Senator Evan Bayh’s (D-IN) new-found concern about "taming the ballooning national debt.""Someone needs to remind Senator Bayh that Halloween was three weeks ago, because it’s utterly disingenuous for him to masquerade as a fiscal hawk. Not only did Bayh vote for the $787 billion stimulus boondoggle, but he also supported the current Democrat leadership, whose legislative priorities have pushed our national deficit to a record high and heaped trillions of dollars of debt on future generations.
"If Evan Bayh is truly concerned about reducing our national debt, he should start working with Republicans to help end the Democrats’ out-of-control spending spree. Unfortunately for Indiana taxpayers, Bayh has demonstrated no willingness to help restore the checks-and-balances in Washington, as he has voted with Democrat leadership more than 70 percent of the time in 2009."
